REVIEWED- Walz Caps-updated design!

A while ago I discussed  wool cap options on the IBOB list.  I shared that I loved everything about my wool Walz cap except the bill did not hold the shape as well as I'd like.  I decided to contact them and to my surprise I was  told they already made the change to the bill. They have been shipping the new design since this past August.  Being the hat guy that I am I wanted to give the new bill a try.  They offered to send me one to try out at NO CHARGE!   The bill is firmer, but not too much so.  I really think that it is now perfect.  If it were too stiff you could not stuff it in a bag or jersey pocket so that is a plus. The cap I received is a classic looking black with grey strip in wool.  It is a 3 panel design that I  really prefer to their other 4 panel design. I do use the 4 panel ear flap hat in the winter for outside activities when a winter hat is too warm.  I have used it on the bike and shoe-shoeing as well.  I don't know how to explain it but it just fits my head better. I also think it looks cleaner.  That is probably more of a personal preference so you decide on that one.   The l/xl fits me fine for my big-ish head that is about 23.5 inches around where you hat would rest.  The wool is not too thick under my helmet and the bill can be flipped up as well and stays in position. You can check the caps out at http://www.walzcaps.com/   if you want. I was surprised at the variety they have in stock and they are made right in the U.S.,  which is nice. I have never tried the cotton hats they have.  I don't have a connection to Walz- other than I now have three of their caps and am very satisfied with them all.
Some other shots showing the construction....

Some day I'll post more about my framebuilding and other bike projects ....second post in about a year...yah that seems about right with 2 kids and running crazy with life.

Nice review. I also have three Walz Caps and I love them. The XL size just fits perfectly on my 7 7/8ths head. (One of them is the wool ear flap ) The cotton ones are great, I think you'd like those as well. They work fine till it really gets hot and humid. Then I switch out to the CoolMax type hats I have.
